Vocalize Columbus is a nonprofit organization led by students at The Ohio State University striving to improve access to free medical interpretation services for Columbus free clinics. We are in the process of recruiting volunteers for remote (video) medical interpretation. Volunteers will receive official documentation for their service contributions. This survey should take less than 5-10 min to complete. Thank you!
We appreciate you filling out this form! If you would like to learn more, visit: https://vocalizecolumbus.com/about-interpreters/
Overview of process to begin volunteering:
A passing score on a national certification exam (CCHI/NBCMI) or the Medical Interpreter Proficiency Qualification (MIPQ) exam by LanguageStat satisfies our training requirements.
To ensure volunteers are prepared for patient interpretation settings, those who have not completed an exam are required to fulfill the following professional training:
1. Demonstrate language proficiency (We recommend Parrot Test for Spanish or LTI-op for all other languages)
2. Enroll and complete a 40 hour medical interpretation workshop such as TCI
After completing this survey, please send your documentation of exam completion or professional training to firstname.lastname@example.org
and we will connect you with upcoming clinical opportunities. To support our interpreters, we are allocating funds to help cover the costs to become a volunteer.
