Presenter Matthew Fleisig, an adult reference librarian at the Great Neck Library, will be presenting a history of Roswell and Louise Eldridge’s philanthropic contributions to Great Neck during the early twentieth century. This will include their contributions to All Saints Church, the Udall Bridge (presently the 9/11 Memorial Bridge), the Great Neck Library, the Great Neck Park District, the Manhasset Lakeville Water District, and more! 

Matthew has conducted numerous history presentations at the Great Neck Library in the past, such as "Who was the real Jay Gatsby?”, "Great Neck and the American Revolution," and "Eleanor Roosevelt and the United Nations at Lake Success."  

This lecture is a collaboration between the Great Neck Historical Society and the Great Neck Library and will take place at the Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue, Great Neck, on Thursday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m.  There will be light refreshments. Registration is not required. 

The current Great Neck Historical Society was established in 2005 and became the 31st historical society in Nassau County. The society’s mission statement affirms that it is an organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Great Neck’s historical legacy through education, preservation, and outreach.
