CALL FOR ARTISTS: Goodyear Arts Residency Program
DEADLINE: 11:59 PM on Friday, December 5th, 2025 (EST)Goodyear Arts is now accepting applications for nine local, paid artist residencies in 2026. Interested applicants must complete the form below, which will be available to December 5 at 11:59pm (non-negotiable deadline). There is no fee to apply.
2026 RESIDENCY DATES:Spring Session: February 15 - March 27 (Exhibition Opening/Showcase: Fri, April 3, 6-9pm)
Early Summer Session: April 19 - May 29 (Exhibition Opening/Showcase is Fri, June 5, 6-9pm)
Fall Session: September 20 - October 30 (Exhibition Opening/Showcase is Fri, Nov 6, 6-9pm)
BENEFITS:•
6-week residency (roughly)
• 24/7 access to one private studio (this is a work only studio; no housing is available)

$2000 residency stipend

Opportunity to connect with co-residents and the broader Charlotte arts community

A one-month, public gallery exhibition and/or a showcase of non-visual works
ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES:•
Applicants should be serious, excellent local artists at all levels who are making thoughtful and challenging work. The residencies are not for commercial artists.
• Goodyear Arts is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. At least 50% of resident artists identify as BIPOC.
•
Residencies are only open to artists who are local to Charlotte and the surrounding area, and who intend to remain local for the year following their residencies. We define local as living full-time within a 40-mile radius of Goodyear Arts.
•
Residencies are open to all art forms and media, including but not limited to those in the Visual, Performing, and Literary Arts and including performing ensembles of up to 5 people.
•
Applicants cannot concurrently be enrolled as students in 2026. Additionally, at least 3 months must have passed since their graduation.
•
Goodyear Arts residency and research residency alumni are not eligible.
•
Goodyear Arts Board Members are not eligible.
•
Applicants must be 21+.
REQUIREMENTS:•
Residents are expected to make good use of their time at Goodyear Arts; while we do not monitor or manage set hours, we expect that studios will be used regularly and consistently.
•
Residents are expected to create new work which will be shown/ performed/ experienced at the exhibition/showcase immediately following their residency period.
•
Residents must collaborate with co-residents (and Goodyear Arts leadership) in planning and installing their exhibition/showcase in person.
•
Residents must attend orientation, two check-in meetings, and their opening reception/showcase.
• Residents are responsible for installing and deinstalling their work.
•
Goodyear Arts inhabits a large shared and donated space. Please do not apply if you cannot responsibly steward such a space or if you cannot work respectfully with other artists.
SELECTION:Applications will be reviewed by an adjudication panel. Applicants will be notified the week of January 26, 2026.
