The Global Society of Tigrean Scholars (GSTS), in collaboration with the Tigrai-based universities, and the Tigrai National Regional State, held the first of its kind successful conference from July 18th –23rd in Mekelle, Tigrai. The conference brought together more than 1,000 professionals, higher education institutions, research institutes, industries, civil societies, policy decision makers, research and development practitioners and public institutions from all over the world.
In conclusion, after the thorough and in-depth discussion on the issues pertaining to the future overall development of the region and beyond for 5 days, a number key and actionable deliverables were identified and endorsed. In order to execute the well thought identified strategic activities, GSTS was re-structured to include all key actors and pertinent stakeholders.
As per the resolution of the conference, the GSTS leadership over the past weeks has been engaged in developing the detailed draft strategic document and road-map matrix, which will serve as a pillar for the proper execution of all its intended activities, enlisting on short, medium and long-term basis.
Currently, the leadership is also strengthening/establishing the regional chapters and research-oriented teams/networks. The research-oriented teams will serve as the most enabling platforms to actively engage all scholars in broad-range activities related to our region and people.
Based on the existing and future demands of the region and discussions made with major stakeholders, a number of cross-cutting generic teams have been identified (see in the form below).
The GSTS is urgently requesting all Tigrean scholars/professionals to fill out the form below and accordingly join the noble cause. We understand that the listed thematic areas may not be as such exhaustive, however, they are generic (which will later include sub-thematic areas) enough to accommodate related fields of research interest.
Please select a thematic area which is closely related to your active research area and/or professional career, in which you will exclusively and highly contribute.
Once the different thematic networks are established, each team will discuss, and elect the corresponding coordinators.
We would like once again to appreciate all your readiness and dedication to engage in this noble cause!
Thank you so much
