Committee Descriptions
Youth and Kids (WEC): Youth and Kids Committee offers enriching experiences for all ages. Every Sunday, youth aged 12 and above gather for our dynamic Youth Club, where engaging discussions and activities spark growth and connection around religious topics and values. Our weekly book club provides intellectual stimulation and different occasional events cater to our younger members, ensuring everyone finds their place to learn and thrive within our community. We are in need of volunteers through out the year for leading as well assisting such sessions. Please feel free to reach out, if you want to pitch in anyway!

Education (WEC): The Womens Education committee aims to fulfill the needs of the sisters at ICOB. We plan on organizing halaqas, classes and workshops focused in three areas: Convert/Foundational Education, Non-Islamic/Community Education and Islamic Education. These programs can look like salah workshops, financial literacy classes and a womens halaqa. We have begun with a tahfeedh/tajweed class held every Friday in the womens musallah. If you're interested in helping organize or lead any educational program, don't hesitate to contact me!

Outreach: The outreach committee's purpose is to foster connections between ICOB and the Bloomington community, specifically by focusing on building relationships with various religious groups. The committee identifies unexplored connections and hosts events to help maintain strong ties.

Social Events: The Social Events Committee plays a key role in organizing and executing the mosque’s social activities, designed to bring the community together and foster a sense of unity and enjoyment. These events include monthly potlucks (when possible), Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha breakfasts, Ramadan and Eid bazaars, and more. The committee is also responsible for planning and coordinating various engaging social events throughout the year, such as hikes, picnics, and barbecues. Additionally, women on the committee will help organize women-only parties and gatherings.

Da’wah & New Muslim Support: The Da’wah and New Muslim Support Committee is focused on supporting converts and helping them integrate into the community. The committee is responsible for creating and maintaining a support system for new Muslims, providing the guidance and resources they need after conversion. It also organizes Islamic educational programs for both new Muslims and the broader community, promoting a better understanding of the faith.
