ASU Course Timeline

ASU ULC courses are offered in different sessions: 

  • Session A (First 8 weeks)

  • Session B (Last 8 weeks)

  • Session C (Full 16 weeks)

  • Self-Paced or On Demand (Any time, ideally 8-16 weeks)

    • Self-Paced courses must be completed by the end of Session B/C to be counted into KS transcript and paid for by KS.

KAKPL Application and Course Request 
  1. MEET with your grade counselor to discuss interest in a Kaunaloa-ASU college course and confirm eligibility:

    • Grades 10, 11, or 12 AND 

    • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 and above (3.5 and above for Kaunaloa Study Hall period)

  2. DECIDE one of the following options:

    • PART-TIME: Continue with your KS course schedule with addition of a Kaunaloa-ASU college course

      • May add one or two Session A or B. Does NOT need to be enrolled for entire semester.

    • FULL-TIME: Request for a Kaunaloa-ASU Study Hall Period replacing an elective course.

      • MUST be registered in Kaunaloa-ASU course(s) for entire semester (A+B or C or Self Paced)

    • OVER-TIME: Request for TWO Kaunaloa-ASU Study Hall Periods replacing two elective courses.

      • MUST be registered in MULTIPLE CONCURRENT Kaunaloa-ASU course(s) for entire semester (A+B or C or Self Paced)

      • SELECT students ONLY (must have already completed KS high school degree requirements)

  3. SUBMIT required Student/Parent Agreement Form to HS Admin Building:

  4. REVIEW the KAKPL courses BEFORE submitting Course Request Form:

    • REVIEW the FOUR KAKPL Pathways

    • SELECT one Academy Pathway listed above

    • REVIEW ASU Course Descriptions online: https://ea.asu.edu/courses/ 

  5. SUBMIT online Course Request Form by submission deadline. 

    • MUST declare Pathway option

    • REQUEST courses from selected Pathway

IF APPROVED, you will be manually added to the ASU courses. DO NOT self-register. 
PRIORITY DEADLINE: June 30, 2024
REGULAR DEADLINE: July 31, 2024

ASU Reminders

  • You are NOT to register yourself in a course.  Administration will enroll you in the course. 
  • Students who had a grade lower than a "C" in a previous Kaunaloa course will NOT be eligible to participate without review and permission by administration. 
  • Seniors cannot use Kaunaloa courses to fulfill graduation requirements. Please confirm with your counselor prior to registration.
