This year, we are looking for volunteers from each state to help serve as organizers for meetings with members of congress and other local officials/ entities. All guidance, training, and materials will be provided by C19LAP.  We aim for meetings to occur during Long COVID Awareness Week, however, encourage them to be obtained nonetheless based on member availability throughout the month of March as a whole and/ or when members are home during recess over the first two weeks of April.

Mandatory:

Your role will entail handling communications for planning and leading meetings and connecting with and recruiting other members in your state to participate. You will be responsible for organizing, maintaining participant lists, and logistics for meetings (we can assist, but cannot lead 50+ states).

Optional/ Encouraged:

Other things you may/ have the opportunity to assist with are other local events, such as street teams handing out Long COVID information or masks, light-up events, or publicly visible, COVID-safe displays for awareness and education purposes, securing meetings with Governors, writing letters to HHS, FDA, White House, and more.  

Recruitment:

C19LAP is looking to recruit these positions *immediately*. Your outreach to secure meetings will need to also happen immediately. Recruitment of others interested in participation is also a necessity, whether for meetings or for other potential events and actions listed.

Position:

This is a volunteer role. Should a donor come forward wishing to support this effort, we would love to offer honorarium to state leads for Long COVID Awareness Month organizing and leadership.

Advocacy is nothing without those who carry it forward, especially those with lived-experience. One of the most influential and successful ways of getting congressional action are direct meetings with constituents. We are looking for people across the country to join together for outreach to your members of congress, governors, and other public health entities. All materials and instructions will be provided by C19LAP and your state leads. Your participation with (and/or assisting you lead) with other actions would also be greatly appreciated and welcomed.
