HORSEMANSHIP PATTERN (image below)
*New* A flag run has been added to the end of horsemanship

You will enter the arena on foot and walk to the judges.

1.  Tack check & impromptu question by judges
2.  Mount your horse
3.  Start pattern by circling the arena, on the left lead, at an extended lope.
4.  Guide left and lope down the middle of the arena, with moderate speed.
5.  Pass the center of the arena, stop and back to center.
6.  Execute a 3/4 turn to the right, and lope a circle to the right, with moderate speed.
7.  Change leads, and lope a circle, to the left, with moderate speed. After completing the circle, continue loping on the left lead towards the end of the arena.

8. Upon completion of that circle, -do not stop-, proceed to the arena fence and continue around the perimeter of the arena to the left, making a "queens run" around the entire arena.  (This should be continuous motion -don't stop-, pass the judges and circle the outside edge of the arena all the way around to the out gate)
9. Stop at the gate.
10. A committee member will assist you in getting your flag set
11. Once flag is set, begin flag run at the gate, run past judges, cut the arena in half (no need to run the entire arena), and return to the gate.
12. Stop at gate and exit arena. Committee member will assist you in removing flag outside of the arena

(Note: Last year, at the request of Dodge and the Sidney PRCA Rodeo Committee, there were
2 Dodge trucks parked in the arena during the horsemanship patterns. They were located in the center of the small circles. We have not yet been informed if the trucks will be parked in the arena for the 2025 contest.)
