ColneWatch is a community-led project to keep the Colne estuary safe for all water uses and to reduce speeding and anti-social behaviour.
Members of the public are encouraged to submit reports to ColneWatch of speeding, anti-social or dangerous behaviour observed on the River Colne.
This incident report form includes sections on the following:
1. Date, time & location
2. About the incident
3. Your contact details* (optional)
ColneWatch is working with local authorities (CBC & Brightlingsea Harbour) as well as the Essex Police Marine Unit.
The information submitted via our Incident Report form will be used:
- to record and collate incident reports on the River Colne
- to raise awareness of incidents on the River Colne
- to engage stakeholders and users of the River Colne

Any personal information you decide to provide via the incident form will be kept securely by the volunteers of ColneWatch, and may be used to contact you about your report. In addition, Essex Police Marine Unit have requested that we pass on incident reports to them, so that they can record these in their incident database. If you provide your contact information, this may transferred (securely) to the Essex Police Marine Unit for their records, and they may decide to get in touch with you about your report. If you don’t agree to this, please do not enter any personal information in the form.
