ABOUT US
OCA Sacramento is an organization of community advocates, one of 100 chapters and college affiliates of OCA National, located in Washington, DC, that strives to develop strong leadership, community involvement, and civic participation.
OCA Sacramento won the 2014 Chapter of the Year Award and both the 2014 Chapter Excellence Award for Membership and Civic Engagement. Our chapter is committed to providing quality programs that support the development of the Greater Sacramento Asian Pacific Islander American community.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Speak & Lead program is a 6-week (meeting once per week on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) public speaking and speech organization class. This program aims to strengthen the oral communication skills of young Asian Pacific Islander American students with the goal of building each students' leadership and advocacy potential.

PROGRAM PRIORITIES & GUIDELINES
Seeking Asian Pacific Islander American high school students (including recently graduated seniors) who:
- wants to develop skills in communication and public speaking
- demonstrates an interest in successfully completing this 6-week program
- participates in school-sponsored clubs and/or community programs
- volunteers in school-sponsored activities and/or communities projects
Applicants must be available to attend all 6 classes on the following Sundays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (only 1 excused absence is permitted during the program):
- July 10
- July 17
- July 24
- July 31
- August 7
- August 14 (final speech competition)
APPLICATION INFORMATION & DEADLINES
- This application form must be completed by Friday, June 24, 2016.
- Applications will be reviewed by a committee of OCA Sacramento volunteers.
- All applicants will be notified by both email on Friday, July 1, 2016.
