Currently, AFAI seeks to add several new board members beginning January 2019 who represent the diversity of our community and who bring the passion, skills, experience, and community connections that the board needs at this exciting time in the theater’s history.
Here’s what we expect from board members:
● Regularly attend board meetings, currently held at Ciné on the third Monday of each month from approximately 5:30 - 7:00 pm.● Participate on at least one working board committee (e.g., Membership, Finance, Fundraising, Programming, Strategic Planning). Committees might meet one ormore times per month depending on the task at hand.● Represent the board at Cine’s special events and fundraisers.● In addition to being a current dues paying Ciné member, provide financial support to Ciné to the extent that you are able.
Schedule for bringing on new board members:
● October 15 Applications are due.● November 1 - 15 Nominating Committee interviews candidates.● November 19 Nominating Committee presents a slate to the Board of Directorsfor a vote. New board members are notified that they have been selected.● December TBD New board members attend orientation.● January 20 New members attend their first AFAI board meeting.
