Annual Vacation period: 08/31/2026-12/2026.
Class resume: 01/04/2027.
Applications submitted after priority deadline may experience processing delays due to conflicting departmental timeline. Students needing earlier vacation approval confirmations are strongly recommended to apply as early as possible.
Processing notes :
1. The processing time may take up to 2-3 weeks due to a comprehensive review involving multiple departments.
2. Application review update: TWO crucial emails from your International Affairs (IA) advisor: 1) decision email and 2) vacation I-20 email. The decision is made in 2-3 weeks after the submission. The vacation I-20 email will be dispatched after 3rd week of the semester. You are NOT required to show officials the vacation I-20 with travel endorsement when departing the U.S. It is used for re-entering the U.S.
3. Academic courses and invoices adjustment: If your request is approved, you are not required to attend the academic courses classes. Your academic course enrollment and invoices will be removed or adjusted around week 3-4 of the annual-vacation-approved semester by the scheduling department or the student accounts department. If you're participating in CPT during your annual vacation, you must pay the Registration, Technology, and Internship Course fees.
4. CPT & Internship course during approved annual vacation: If you have CPT, you will be enrolled into an internship course in the annual vacation semester, please make sure to attend and pass the internship course during the approved annual vacation semester. If you DO NOT have CPT authorization for Spring 2026 semester yet, please submit the new CPT application or CPT renewal through Terra Dotta (TD)separately before the CPT renewal deadline.
Reminder:
Please note that vacation approval is contingent on a student maintaining their F-1 status. Should a student be dismissed from their program for any reason (academic, attendance, financial obligations, etc.) then they would be out of status and the vacation approval would be voided.
