F-1 Annual Vacation Request
Please carefully review the instructions and guidelines outlined within this form to ensure compliance with regulations governing F-1 Annual Vacation.

F-1 students are eligible to take an annual vacation after completing their academic year requirement at a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified school and intends to regsiter for thte next term. During the approved Annual Vacation, F-1 student' s SEVIS record is in an ACTIVE status unless otherwise are notified, and students can participate in CPT, and travel internationally. This form must be completed prior to taking any vacations. 

F-1 Annual Vacation Elgibility Checklist
1. No outstanding balance for the current semester or prior semester(s).
2. Completed or will complete one full academic year at WU (minimum18 credits for graduate students and 24 credits for undergraduate students) by the end of the current semester. Internship or transfer credits do not count towards the credit requirement.
3.If students have taken a previous vacation or RCL, they must complete an additional academic year by the end of the current semester to be eligible for another one after resume classes.
4. Not entering the final session/semester in Summer 2026 semester.
5. DBA students entering the dissertation phase must pass the DIS 900/ DOC 901to be eligible for annual vacation. Additionally dissertation students can only utilize one annual vacation period during their dissertation phase. 
6. Students enrolled in the DBA Stackable program must have signed the enrollment agreement for the next level.
7. SEVIS record has been active for a full academic year and remains in active status at WU.

Application deadline and Annual Vacation period:

Submission priority deadline: 08/09/2026, 11:59 PT.
Annual Vacation period: 08/31/2026-12/2026. 
Class resume: 01/04/2027.

Applications submitted after priority deadline may experience processing delays due to conflicting departmental timeline. Students needing earlier vacation approval confirmations are strongly recommended to apply as early as possible. 

Processing notes :

1. The processing time may take up to 2-3 weeks due to a comprehensive review involving multiple departments.

2. Application review update: TWO crucial emails from your International Affairs (IA) advisor: 1) decision email and 2) vacation I-20 email. The decision is made in 2-3 weeks after the submission. The vacation I-20 email will be dispatched after 3rd week of the semester. You are NOT required to show officials the vacation I-20 with travel endorsement when departing the U.S. It is used for re-entering the U.S.

3. Academic courses and invoices adjustment: If your request is approved,  you are not required to attend the academic courses classes. Your academic course enrollment and invoices will be removed or adjusted around week 3-4 of the annual-vacation-approved semester by the scheduling department or the student accounts department. If you're participating in CPT during your annual vacation, you must pay the Registration, Technology, and Internship Course fees.


4. CPT & Internship course during approved annual vacation: If you have CPT, you will be enrolled into an internship course in the annual vacation semester, please make sure to attend and pass the internship course during the approved annual vacation semester. If you DO NOT  have CPT authorization for Spring 2026 semester yet,  please submit the new CPT application or CPT renewal through Terra Dotta (TD)separately before the CPT renewal deadline.

Reminder:
Please note that vacation approval is contingent on a student maintaining their F-1 status. Should a student be dismissed from their program for any reason (academic, attendance, financial obligations, etc.) then they would be out of status and the vacation approval would be voided.
