Each Chromebook is property of the Valley Central School District, and as such, is a privilege that can be revoked at any time. Inappropriate use of district technology may result in limited or banned computer use and/or disciplinary action, as outlined in the Valley Central School District Acceptable Use Policy. *
Chromebook serial numbers will be recorded by the school and assigned to each student using their school ID#. *
District-issued Chromebooks are for the sole use of the student it was assigned to. Under no circumstances should the Chromebook be loaned to other students or be out of the personal possession of the student who has signed this agreement. *
Users of district technology have no right, ownership, or expectations of privacy to any data that is, or was, stored on the Chromebook, school network, or any school-issued applications. There are no guarantees that said data will be retained and may be destroyed *
A Chromebook may be collected at any time to be inspected or to provide routine maintenance. *
Students are responsible for the following parts if damaged or lost due to student neglect:                          A. Chromebook (replacement cost up to $300)             B. Chromebook power cord (replacement cost $35) *
Any Chromebooks or assigned accessory that is unaccounted for or broken during the school year will be charged to the student at the replacement rate listed in #6. *
Chromebooks should be taken home for homework as assigned by teachers, and should be returned to school each day to be available for use in class. Students may not use a personal computing device in lieu of the district provided Chromebook while at school. *
It is a students responsibility to come to class with their Chromebook fully charged. Chromebook carts, chargers, or power strips will not be available in classrooms. *
Valley Central School District will not provide insurance on student devices, but each family is eligible to purchase their own insurance for any individual Chromebook. Insurance is completely optional. *
If a student is no longer enrolled in Valley Central Schools, or upon the request of an administrator, the Chromebook and all of its accessories must immediately be returned to the technology department. *
If there are any problems/issues with a student device, the Technology Department must be notified as soon as possible. *
The above rules are subject to modification at the discretion of the Valley Central School District. *
