Each year we require a number of people to help make the Horror
Festival work. We ourselves are volunteers on the Organising Committee
and enjoy the experience of the EHF and all the acts, and people we get
to meet.
The Festival
will run Thursday October 23rd to Sunday October 26th
This form is for you to register your interest,
provide us with everything we might need, and we will be contacting
people in September to sort out rotas, and to check in that you wish to
proceed, and confirm the details you submit here are still correct.
THE BASICSThe
Edinburgh Horror Festival takes place primarily at The Banshee
Labyrinth, Scotland's Most Haunted Pub, on the weekend closest to
Hallowe'en. We occassionally run additional events at other venues.
Volunteering at the EHF primarily involves working with the Front of
House team to fascilitate the smooth running of the event. This can
include checking guest lists, showing audiences to their seats, helping
performers organise the room between shows, being on hand to answer
questions for audiences and customers, guarding the doors to ensure no
late admission.
It's a very social event, with lots of folk in
EdHorrorFest T-shirts around supporting each other, the festival, the
venue and the shows. There are chances to explore the back stage set
up, and previous volunteers have gone on to bring their own shows to the
Festival, or get involved behind the scenes with shows. One of the
Trustees that runs the Edinburgh Horror Festival started as a volunteer
for the weekend event.
You'll make new friends, see some
excellent shows, spend time in a spooky venue, and take part in a
rapidly growing grass roots event.
If accepted as a volunteer
we will require a passport style photograph for your Lanyard ID. We will reach out for that when we contact you about rotas.
PERKSEvery
volunteer gets a T-shirt, badges, stickers, Hallowe'en treats, free
entry to shows, free soft drinks on duty, and a life time membership card
for alcoholic drinks (when off duty) at the Banshee Labyrinth.
ADDITIONALDue
to our venues being over 18 only, you must turn 18 on or before the
Volunteer Induction day which is Sunday October 19th 2024. The Festival
will run Thursday October 23rd to Sunday October 26th. We usually
request that volunteers are available for at least two of those dates.
However, we know folk are unlikely to know their schedule this far in
advance so don't expect you to give us availability specifics right now.
