Thank you for your interest in bringing your art to Boston Decompression 2017: Black & White.
Date and times: Saturday November 18th from 4pm-1am (Amplified sound and alcohol sales end at midnight.)
Location: the Steel Yard, 27 Sims Ave, Providence, RI 02909

Please give us as much information as you can about your installation and its requirements so we can accommodate as much art and deco as possible. We need to have completed surveys back by Friday, October 27th for fire art. All other works, please submit your surveys by Friday, November 3rd - the more time we have to work together on getting your art to Decompression, the better.

OUTDOOR SPACES: The Steel Yard is an all outdoor venue located in Providence, RI. We are excited about the huge amount of outdoor space available for our use, and for fire art this year! Having a new venue provides a lot of interesting opportunities for large-scale outdoor art, fire art, theme appropriate deco projects, as well as new opportunities for theme camps! The space is a large mostly paved lot area, with a small grassy hill in the middle. It is divided into smaller areas by partitions made of tall growing grasses, a series of iron girders, and other structural-style elements.

Power and water are available, please specify your needs in the survey. There is ample space for free-standing installations, big sculptures, and theme camps —BUT you must be prepared for cold and/or inclement weather. Projections can be done outside on screens, video-mapping and other interactive or non-interactive video proposals are most welcome.

TRANSPORTATION: If you need assistance getting your project to the venue, we can help with transportation arrangements. There will be an art truck collecting pieces from various locations around the Boston metro area. Also, to encourage new work from outside the Boston metro area, we may be able to help arrange transportation from further distances. Contact with questions about transporting your art.

SETUP and TEAR-DOWN: The exact schedule for setup and tear-down will be finalized in coming days. Here is the preliminary schedule:
* Setup will begin in the evening of Friday, November 17th. The art truck will be arriving on site Friday evening. Exact setup hours for Friday evening and Saturday daytime will be announced soon.
* All setup must be complete by 4pm on October 18th when Decompression begins.
* Tear-down/strike will start when the event ends at 1am. There will be a maximum of 2 hours of strike time the night of the event, but there may be as little as an hour.
* Most tear-down/strike will take place on Sunday, November 19th. The art truck will be returning to Boston that night. All pieces must be completely removed from the premises by the time the art truck leaves. The hours for tear-down on Saturday and Sunday will be announced.

TICKETS: This is an entirely volunteer run, radically participatory event, which means everyone—organizers, performers, musicians, and artists—is responsible for purchasing their own ticket. There will be lower priced tickets available to artists, performers, and volunteers who need the option. Instructions for purchasing a lower priced ticket will be sent to you with the ticket sales information.

When tickets go on sale, the purchase link and information will be sent to you. Ticket information will also be posted to the Boston Burning Man regional announce and discussion email lists, the Boston Decompression Facebook page and event, and other social media channels. Black & White may sell out, so be ready to buy your ticket soon after they go on sale.
