York University Syria Response and Refugee Initiative- student engagement form

Thank you for your interest in the York University Syria Response and Refugee Initiative (www.yorku.ca/refugees)!

Major aspects of this project include York's participation in the Ryerson University Lifeline Syria Challenge project (which also includes OCADU and the University of Toronto) to sponsor Syrian refugees as well as promoting refugee awareness and engagement within the York University and wider community.

As part of York University's commitment to experiential student learning, York students (alongside faculty, staff, and alumni) will have the opportunity to become involved in refugee resettlement, engagement and awareness raising.

Our amazing students have also been very active in an ongoing "Refugees Welcome Here!" campaign - http://www.osgoode.yorku.ca/refugees/refugees-welcome/ . You can reach this committee at refwelc@yorku.ca and by checking the box about this below . York University has significantly increased its sponsorship commitment to refugees being sponsored to come to York to live and study through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Refugee Sponsorship Program. Five refugees per year are now sponsored through this program. Are you interested in being involved in one of York’s two local WUSC committees to help welcome and support these refugee students? (Glendon and Keele Campuses) *
Would you like to be subscribed to a listserv about refugee issues (the YorkU Centre for Refugee Studies' list, which includes educational opportunities, events and campus/community initiatives)? *
Are there any skills, resources, or expertise that you would like to provide to the Syria Response and Refugee Initiative at York?
