Design for America - UC Berkeley // Fall 2012 Board Application

Thank you for your interest in being on the board for Design for America - UC Berkeley! Please keep your responses to the allotted amount of sentences. The following are the duties of the available positions for Fall 2012. Interviews will be from August 25-26. Deadline is on Friday, August 17 at 11:59PM. We will not accept late applications.

VP of External Affairs--
Establish ties with the greater Bay Area community
Maintain and establish ties with the Berkeley campus community (Non-DFA Students & Faculty)
Follow up every week on interested groups or collaborations, including with other DFA chapters (post on DFA leaders FB group)
Maintains database of community partners (potential and current)
DFA umbrella organization liaison.
Coordinate any meetings with outside parties.

VP of Internal Affairs--
Works closely with VP of Publicity & Media.
Maintains membership database, keeps it up to date.
Responsible for scheduling & finding out everyone’s availabilities
ensure that communication amongst members is smooth
Plans and organizes socials every month
Board/Club martial; ensure that people are meeting deadlines
Keep track of attendance.
Maintains room reservations.
Completes ASUC paperwork .
Manages member relations.

VP of Research--
Work closely with VP of Project Management
Responsible for heading all research endeavors (eg. when deciding which projects to take, when deciding upon materials, etc)
Responsible for identifying areas for research and dividing up said work.
Responsible for compiling/maintaining all research and data
Provide introductory materials to present to club at the beginning of any project/discussion

VP of Project Management--
Organize all information on current project
Able to summarize and debrief members on projects
Manage project to meet certain deadlines and goals, etc
Prototype logistics

VP of Finance & Prizes--
Must be a registered UC Berkeley student/signatory, complete ASUC agent training.
Submits reimbursements forms.
Maintains collected funds, deposits money from outside sources into ASUC account
Researches upcoming contests, grant, fundraising opportunities
Responsible for Materials Research for Prototyping.

ALL BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES--
May only be absent from 3 studio (regular) meetings per semester in addition to the board meetings.
Academics will not be an excuse. Plan ahead.
Must meet all responsibility deadlines. Again, plan ahead.
Must table for 2 hours per week until 3rd General Meeting.
Must share responsibility for materials fees if we are over budget.
Must be energetic, carry a positive attitude, and able to take initiative.
Must respond to e-mail and/or forms within 2 days.
Must commit 1 semester.
Not complying to the following responsibilities will jeopardize your position on the board.
