Information Regarding the Bible Study

The Gospel of Luke takes you on a journey that begins with the foretelling of John the Baptist's birth and culminates in Jesus' ascension into heaven. On the road to Emmaus, a story unique to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus gave us the greatest Bible study of all time, laying out his fulfillment of the Old Testament.

In Luke: The Story of Salvation Fulfilled, you will witness key moments in salvation history including the Annunciation, the Nativity, his public ministry, and Jesus' suffering, death, and glorious Resurrection. There are parables found only in Luke, including the Prodigal Son, the Good Samaritan, and the rich man and Lazarus which will show you the mercy and compassion that Jesus has for each one of his children.

In this 8-part study, Jeff Cavins and Dr. Jeffrey Morrow will show you the beautiful Biblical roots for Mary, the Rosary, and the Mass that are found in Luke, strengthening your prayer life like never before.

Materials for Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible include: 
  1. Workbook: contains engaging discussion questions and responses, home preparation material, talk notes, and the Bible Timeline Chart and Bookmark. You will need one workbook for each participant. 
  2. Video presentations (eight 30-minute sessions): presented by Jeff Cavins and Dr. Jeffrey Morrow, these eight video presentations provide an overview and explanation of the twelve time periods of biblical history. These videos will be viewed together as a group in each study session. 
In addition, it is recommended that every participant have a Catholic Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Bible and Catechism can both be accessed online. 

Participants may also bring snacks to share with the group! 
Study Fee 

This study has a fee of $40.00. This fee will cover the cost of the workbook. Please pay the fee to the Parish office with cash or cheque (payable to St. Justin Martyr Church).

Study Schedule

There are 2 possible session times per week. Both sessions will cover the same material and so participants will only need to attend one per week. 

The first time slot will take place on Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. 
The second slot will take place on Saturdays from 10:30 to 12:30 pm. 

The study will take place in the parish hall, on the following dates: 

Session 1: January 22 or January 24
Session 2: January 29 or January 31
Session 3: February 05 or February 07
Session 4: February 12 or February 14
Session 5: February 19 or February 21
Session 6**: March 05 or March 07
Session 7: March 12 or March 14
Session 8: March 19 or March 21

**There will be no session on February 26 and February 28**

Participants who are unable to attend their regular session are welcome to attend the alternative study session for that week (Saturday rather than Thursday, or Thursday rather than Saturday). Participants can attend either the Thursday or Saturday sessions (and alternate) according to their preference.
