The award is presented by the Camping Association of Nova Scotia in memory of the late Betty
Campbell, Past President of CANS (1963-1966) and Vice President of the Canadian Camping
Association (1969).

Betty is remembered for her dedication, enthusiasm, leadership skills, encouragement for the best
camping principles and the highest camping health standards, and her support of youth camping.

The Betty Campbell Camper Award is to presented to a camper in recognition of demonstrated qualities
in the criteria set by the Camping Association of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island:
     a) be dependable;
     b) be enthusiastic;
     c) be cheerful;
     d) be considerate of others and nature;
     e) show leadership qualities; and
     f) go the extra mile (e.g., be helpful to other campers and staff)

Nomination for the award is to be made by the director of the camp attended by the camper. The camp
must be a current member of CANSPEI.

The award includes a certificate and $50.00 to award winners and a certificate sent to the camp that can be displayed. CANSPEI has a plaque with the name of the past award winners. Presentation of the award is made at the Annual General Meeting of the Camping Association.
