"Thirst For Knowledge" Scholarship 2019
Application Due Date: Monday, April 15, 2019
PURPOSE The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to incoming freshman or congregation members enrolled for undergraduate and graduate study in community colleges, colleges, trade schools and universities.

ACTS awards scholarships to seniors and members on the basis of a comprehensive process. Areas reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, References, Personal Essay and Financial Need. ACTS pays scholarship funds directly to the recipient’s school or member. Scholarships are awarded each semester and are continued each semester if the student maintains a 2.5 GPA each semester.
The “Thirst for Knowledge” Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria
1 Applicants must be a member of Agape Community Temple of Servants Church.
2 Applicants must currently attend or have completed high school successfully with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
3 Applicants must be accepted as a student at a college, university, or trade, theology school program for the upcoming academic semester. If scholarship money is awarded, funds are sent directly to the institution on behalf of the applicant.
4 Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application by Monday, April 15, 2019.
5 Scholarship recipients will receive their funds at the beginning of the school year.
6 Both new and renewal applications are due April 15, 2019.
7 Applications will be reviewed and notified by the AEA Scholarship Committee by July 5, 2019.

Application Process

1 Completed application form including typed essay.
2 Official high school transcript in a sealed envelope from the institution.
3 Two academic references from a guidance counselor or teacher.
4 A letter completed reference from an employer or other community member not related to the applicant.
5 Proof of acceptance at an academic, vocational or technical school for post-secondary studies.

SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE: Scholarships may be renewed annually if entering a full-time program and if recipient maintains a 2.5 average GPA and complete required volunteer hours. More than three renewals may be considered on a case by case basis. This presupposes that funds are available for disbursement.
1. The scholarship recipient must demonstrate need for continued financial assistance.
2. A personal statement/paragraph describing their experience during the academic year, what they learned, challenges they encountered and what they intended to do the following year to help them move forward in life.
3. Completed application form excluding item numbers 4, 10 and 21.
4. The Scholarship recipient must retain permanent residence status within a 30 mile radius of ACTS I and ACTS II Church.
5. Students must provide an official transcript for the prior semester. Awards will be made provisionally pending receipt of final grades from spring semester of that year.
6. Renewal applications are due by Monday, April 15, 2019.
