"Beans & Bonds" is an undergraduate-graduate student program through the MIT Undergraduate Chemistry Association that aims to connect undergraduates with graduate student mentors in the chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science departments to share experiences about graduate studies, research interests, career interests, and navigating challenges therein. The ultimate goal is to create an environment over coffee--the origin of "Beans" in our name--or not coffee, where mutual sharing of stories and insights can encourage (1) undergraduate students to develop a sense of belonging within their disciplines, graduate studies, academia, etc. and (2) graduate students to develop a formal mentoring relationship with younger students.
1-on-1 pairings are assigned based on surveyed interests, meet at a frequency of your choosing over coffee/meals, which are reimbursed by the program at ~$25/person.
If you would like to continue with your mentee from previous semesters, you may specify that in this form (this should expedite setting up your reimbursements)!
Fill out this form by October 10th, 2025 to express interest!
