What are your priorities for new legislation to address the COVID-19 health and economic crisis?
We know it can be hard to choose, but please try selecting up to *three* top priorities here.
Student loan debt relief: Put money back into pockets of people who need it.
Manufacture more personal protective equipment: Masks, gloves, and gowns to keep health care professionals and essential workers safe.
Expanded paid family and medical leave: Help families who need assistance caring for their children and loved ones, or if they've fallen sick and cant' work.
Relief for small businesses: Grants and zero/low interest loans to help entrepreneurs under extreme hardship.
Accountability: Transparency to ensure assistance isn't wasted and goes to people who need help, instead of to special interests or large corporations.
Widespread testing: We need more testing to stop new infections and control the virus.
Budget help for states: Ensure Kansas doesn't have to make new deep cuts and lay off teachers, firefighters, health care workers, and law enforcement personnel.
Health insurance: We have to make sure people can have affordable health care, especially during a health crisis.
New economic impact payments: Families need more direct payments so people can have resources stay afloat as we move through this crisis.
Housing support: Bans on evictions and foreclosures during the pandemic.
Extend additional unemployment insurance: People who have lost work need extra help right now and can't pay their bills if pandemic assistance ends in July.
Reduce the debt and deficit: I understand people need help but am concerned about the long-term impact of new spending.
