Once Upon an Orchestra School Reservations (2024-25)

Host a Once Upon An Orchestra chamber concert at your school for your music-loving, budding readers! During the 20-min storytelling-through-music performance, small groups of musicians play music and narrate the text from favorite children’s books. With a focus on music and general/early literacy education, these performances are perfect for your school’s youngest students or PTA-sponsored cross-generation family events.

  • Dates: September 2024–April 2025 
  • Times: Flexible – based on school schedule and musician availability (20-min performance)
  • Audience: Family, grades pre-K–3
  • Location: Presentation should be held in an auditorium, cafeteria or other assembly area
  • Cost: $800 per performance + mileage if outside of Jefferson County

If the school has an adequate sound system and mics, that is preferred. However, the LO can provide equipment and arrive early to set-up.

BOOK PROJECTIONS: Do you have a projector to display the book during the presentation?
 *

The LO will provide a digital file (PDF) of the book in advance of the performance so it can be projected during the musicians’ presentation. However, it is the school’s responsibility to provide the equipment, set-up, test, and run the projector during the presentation. If a projector is not available, or the school audience is small, a physical copy of the book and its pages can be displayed instead.
