5. Abstract
Magnetic hydrogels are materials containing magnetic
microparticles which help transduce magnetic fields into mechanical
forces. In this talk, we will describe the synthesis of magnetic hydrogel
and their use for reversible stiffening and softening of matrix stiffness to
study cancer progression. The World Health Organization estimates that 10% of
the world’s population suffers from diabetes, and diabetic patients has a
15-25% lifetime risk of getting diabetic foot ulcers. Here, I will also
describe how the magnetic hydrogel technology can be used for single
platform integration of biomaterials, cells and mechanical stimulation to
synergistically accelerate diabetic wound healing.
