The Idaho State Department of Education is requesting proposals for presentations for the 2017 Advanced Opportunities Conference. Workshop presenters are asked to bring forth their ideas to share with counselors, dual credit teacher, school administrators, district personnel, and various other entities that assist student in college and career advising. Breakout sessions will be 75 or 90 minutes each, and will aim to provide tools and resources to participants in an interactive and hands-on fashion.
Presentation Benefits include:1. A stipend of $120 per breakout session for the primary presenter2. Free admittance to the conference for the primary presenter3. Opportunities to showcase your program and organization4. Statewide visibility and recognition5. Exposure to colleagues from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds
Selection Process:Proposals will undergo a peer review process, taking into consideration the selection criteria and factors such as program balance and space availability. When reviewing proposals, the team will look for the following elements:1. Degree of innovation and originality of ideas2. Research-based practices3. Level of engagement with participants/attendees4. Relevance to Conference Strands (see website for details)5. Application to the fieldOrganizations selling a product/program will not be entertained.
Presenter Responsibilities:1. Presenters will be required to attend a webinar on presentation expectations on Wednesday, June 21, 2017st at 2:00pm2. Presenters must submit copies of presentation materials to the SDE by August 18th, 2017
Speakers will be notified no later than June 16th, 2016 as to the status of their proposal.
