Up the Ante, Mumbai! is a conversation series hosted by Vidhi Maharashtra. The main objective of this series is to engage in targeted and detailed discussions on a wide range of topics, spanning from urban planning to governance, with the intention of identifying solutions to various challenges facing the city of Mumbai today.
For this episode, we will be in conversation with Ms. Vaibhavi Maske.
Vaibhavi Maske is a lawyer and gender justice advocate, currently working as Manager of Policy & Advocacy at Red Dot Foundation Global. A B.A. LLB. (Hons.) graduate from Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), she specializes in translating grassroots data into policy, and interventional reforms. Her recent research dwells into in-transit crimes in India specifically examining the dynamics of the bystander effect within auto-rickshaws. She is currently working on a pilot research to evaluate the efficacy of Women-Only Police Stations (WoPS) in India. A speaker at the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum and the II UN-Habitat Assembly with crisis-response experience, she applies preventative criminology to help institutions build proactive, restorative safeguards that cultivate lasting environments of trust and safety.
The sixth episode in our conversation series will focus on the intersection of gender inclusivity and urban design. We will speak to Ms. Maske to understand how policy and urban planning can be approached to make it more hospitable for everyone, including women and gender-diverse communities.
