SUMMER 2021 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Aquariums - Help to feed the fish and maintain the ASFS aquariums.
Courtyard & Gardens - Weed and water the ASFS courtyard and outdoor gardens.
Paint the Blacktop & Trailers - Use stencils to repaint the USA Map and Hopscotch on the blacktop and repaint the hallways and classrooms in the six ASFS trailers.
School Supply Kits - Help to organize and distribute school supply kits to classrooms the week before school begins.
ASFS EVENTS - 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR
Back to School Picnic (September) - Help with event planning and hosting for this school-wide family event.
School Picture Days (October/December) - Assist photographer with picture coordination and help to direct students. (Various shifts available during the day.)
Outside the Box Day (Fall TBD) - Provide preparation and coordination support for this school-wide, student-engineering day.
Book Fair (December) - Help with set up and/or sales checkout during day and/or evening throughout this week-long event.
Math Day (Winter TBD) - Provide preparation and/or hosting support for this annual school-wide event.
STEM Night (Winter TBD) - Help with preparation and/or host a project station during this annual family evening event.
Habitat Week (April) - Provide support with preparation and hosting hands-on outdoor projects for each grade level. (Requires availability during the school day.)
5K/1M Fun Run (May) - Volunteer to help with planning and hosting the ASFS 5K and 1M Fun Run. (Typically held on a Saturday morning.)
Art Show (May) - Assist with preparation and/or hosting for the annual spring student art show.
Field Day (June) - Run an activity station during this school-wide physical fitness and game day. (Requires availability during the school day.)
Book Swap & Ice Cream Social (June) - Assist with collecting and sorting used books and/or volunteering during the school-wide family social event.
5th Grade Promotion (June) - Provide support for the fifth grade promotion events. (Primarily 5th grade parents; 4th grade parents host the post-ceremony reception.)
ASFS PROGRAMS - 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR
Book Room - Assist with maintenance by organizing and re-shelving books.
Library - Help to re-shelve books. (Various time slots throughout the week during the school day.)
Odyssey of the Mind - Coach kids as part of this international program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities.
STEM Career Sharing - Share your STEM-related career with ASFS students. (Please indicate your career in the 'Other' field below.)

ASFS PTA COMMITTEES - 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR
Audit/Finance Committee - Work with a group to review the PTA Treasurer's records for the year. (No need to be a CPA.)
Community Service/Food Bus Committee - Support community service initiatives, including the Food Bus (to collect and deliver leftover, unopened food to AFAC).
Equity Team - Work with ASFS staff, parents and students to support equity and No Place for Hate initiatives at ASFS.
Family Social Events Committee - Work with a team to plan and host school-wide social events throughout the year.
Fundraising Committee - Provide support for fundraising programs, including No-Frills, auction or other school-wide events, loyalty rewards programs, and restaurant nights.
Garden Committee - Maintain the ASFS courtyard, gardens, pond, stream, and outdoor grounds.
Green Committee - Assist with eco-friendly initiatives that support the environment and raise awareness.
Teacher Appreciation Committee - Help with food and other activities during Parent/Teacher Conferences (October/March) and Teacher Appreciation Week (May).
Welcome Committee - Serve as a lead to host grade level events and serve as a parent liaison for new families.
