Ocoee Oaks Worship Team Inquiry Form
Email address *
Thank you for showing your interest in joining the worship team at Ocoee Oaks United Methodist Church. We are thrilled that you are interested in being a part of our team and are looking forward to seeing what God has planned for you. The audition process is not intended to intimidate anyone, but instead to encourage believers to use their God-given gifts to fulfill their personal mission for Christ whether it be on the worship team or another ministry within the church. We are committed, first, to your growth as a disciple of Christ and, secondarily, as a worship team member. You will find an application form attached to this document. The questions in the application form are meant to help us get to know you better. There are also certain expectations that will come with serving in this part of the church, as well as expectations in your spiritual life.
Who should use this form?
- Vocalists (must be willing to learn and sing harmonies)
- Instrumentalists
- Tech (visual media, audio, and lighting)

We are always looking for more people to fill these roles. The goal is to acquire multiple people for each position! Jodi Sewell will contact you with an update as how we will further in this process with you.

Spiritual Maturity
Every member of our worship team must be a disciple of Christ. Musical worship is a part of our church service where the church body focuses on giving praise and honor to God (Revelation 5:13). One is expected to actively seek a deeper relationship with God by regularly reading/studying the Word, an existence of a prayer life, and the ability to pray for others in the church. Individual’s on the worship team must have a vibrant spiritual life including personal worship before he or she participates in worship leadership.
Commitment to Ocoee Oaks
You must be a regular attendee of Ocoee Oaks United Methodist Church while calling this your home. Regardless of being scheduled to serve on the worship team, all worship leaders are required to attend weekly. We encourage you to be a member of our church family and faithfully give financially through tithes and offerings to this Church.
Musical Excellence
A certain level of musical expertise and/or experience is expected on the worship team. We strive for excellence in our playing! That means we really need to make a commitment to regularly listening to and practicing the music. We encourage musicians to never stop learning or growing. Taking lessons is a great way to grow. Do whatever it takes to continue your growth as a musician. Whether you play an instrument or sing, you should be skilled enough to complete a full set practice within a short time and to follow a service led by the Holy Spirit.

Come to rehearsals thinking creatively. We are all to be active participants in crafting songs so that they are enjoyable to play and powerful in the Holy Spirit. Our desire is to arrange songs in a way that worships God with our creativity. While being creative is valued, playing together as a team is vital to the style of music we play. As a result, team members are to play their part and not go off on their own creative ventures: sacrifice “self-expression” for the sake of playing as a TEAM. Everyone has a part, and we need to make sure that we are playing ours, and not everyone else’s.

For this worship team, we read our music via chord charts, and vocal parts are done by ear. Vocalists must be able to hear or willingly learn harmonies, and instrumentalist will read and follow a standard chord chart, both should have a good grasp of the type of music that we play.

Instrumentalists are expected to have their own instruments (with the exception of drums and piano/keys). Guitarists must have their own amps and pedals, if necessary. If this may be an issue, please do not hesitate to contact Jodi.
Time Commitment
Time commitment is a major part of our team. Each person is expected to honor the time we have together. This means showing up early to be ready to practice at the time scheduled. Currently, we have Sunday morning rehearsals at 10:00am. Any other rehearsals will be made known in advance! If you are ever going to miss a rehearsal or you know ahead of time that you are going to be late, please inform Jodi as soon as possible. We must remain accountable to one another to be on time. Being on time honors everyone on the team. Your punctuality shows value to others and will help accomplish our common goals. Remaining accountable to one another builds our trust.
