The Equity in Action Summit 2026 is a full-day gathering for Berkeley employees to engage in equity, inclusion, belonging, and liberation work.

This year’s summit theme, “Thriving as a Collective Practice, Freedom as an Organizing Principle,” invites us to move beyond seeing equity as an individual effort and toward understanding thriving as a practice we build together. Drawing inspiration from Angela Davis’s framing of freedom as a shared and ongoing responsibility, the summit will explore how freedom and thriving become possible in our policies, practices, relationships, and institutional commitments.

Through learning, reflection, wellness, and application, participants will develop shared language, practical tools, and collective strategies to advance equity, and cultivate sustainable, people-centered practices across Berkeley. The day will include workshops, strategy sessions, wellness spaces, and opportunities to engage with campus leadership and staff.
