Please Help Save Our Ice Rink
In 2002, the Alice Noble Ice Arena was dedicated to our community. It was a gift from Donald Noble to his wife, Alice, in celebration of their love for ice skating and in remembrance of their first date on January 24, 1934 when Don took Alice ice skating. Over the last 17 years, the ice arena has been home to Wooster Youth Hockey, College of Wooster Hockey, High School Hockey, Adult League Hockey, the Figure Skating Club, Adaptive Sports programs, Learn-to-Skate programs, public skating sessions, elementary school field trips, birthday parties, a Junior Hockey Oilers team, summer enrichment and after-school child care programs, and more! Each and every one of these activities brings members of our community together in a safe and happy environment.

The ice arena is well used and well loved by the community… just as Don & Alice Noble hoped it would be!

The lifelong benefits of skating include physical and emotional well-being. Through skating programs, our children learn discipline, respect, team-work, character and leadership skills. The rink is a family friendly environment, open to the whole community.

On September 24, 2019, the Donald & Alice Noble Foundation, which has been so very generous in financially supporting the ice arena for the past 17 years, made known their plans to turn the ice arena over to the Wooster City Schools. The school district plans to remove the ice and repurpose the building which will include a turfed field facility. In response to the outpouring of dismay at the prospect of closing the rink, however, the Noble Foundation has given us the opportunity to come up with a plan to save the rink. With $150,000.00 of pledged donations for the next three years by December 1, 2019, the Noble Foundation will consider keeping the ice. We know that losing the ice arena would be a huge loss for Wooster, Wayne County, & surrounding communities.

Our time-frame is short. Our commitment is strong. How can you help?
