In 2020 and 2021, Congress passed three stimulus bills that provided funding to the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Education Relief (ESSER) Fund. States must distribute funds to local education agencies (LEAs) based on their proportional share of ESEA Title I-A funds. The American Rescue Plan Act, passed on March 11, 2021, provided supplemental ESSER funding, known as the ESSER III fund.
As required by the ESSER III grant guidelines, MISD is currently asking for stakeholder input as we prepare a plan that addresses the following needs of students and staff:
- The academic impact of lost instructional time.
- he district's response to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students.
- The district's response to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of students disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including students from low-income families, students of color, English learners, children with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, and migratory students.
- Mitigating safety measures for safe operations of schools for in-person learning.
Your feedback in these four areas is vital to planning and preparation efforts as we strive to meet the needs of our learning community. Thank you for taking time to complete this brief survey.
