Girls for Girls (G4G) is a global mentoring program that aims to empower girls to lead. We do so by creating mentoring circles for girls and young women, 15 years and above. To date the G4G Programme has been rolled out in 24 countries around the world, including seven countries in Africa: Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Niger, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. G4G South Africa has previously mentored girls at the University of Johannesburg, the University of Pretoria, Athlone Girls High School, the Trevor Huddleston Memorial Center, the Asnath Mahapa Foundation (STEM cohort), Rivers Foundation and Mamelodi and Tswelopele, using a combination of online and in-person sessions.
The full G4G program includes 6 sessions (each lasting 3 hours), following which a completion certificate is issued to mentees that have attended a minimum of four sessions. G4G materials and content have been curated with leading Harvard Professors in different aspects of leadership.
G4G mentors comprise professional women from a variety of sectors and industries, providing an opportunity for the mentees to engage with women from a variety of backgrounds, and to grow their personal networks.
