The Campus Climate Action Corps (CCAC) is the first nationwide AmeriCorps program solely dedicated to Campus-based, community-led climate action. CCAC is a Campus Compact initiative focused on building the capacity of campuses and their community partners to affect behavioral and technical change, leading to energy efficiency and improved at-risk ecosystems by implementing local solutions for underserved households and communities nationwide.

Please make sure that you meet our minimum requirements before submitting your entry:
  • Must be at least 17 years old
  • Must hold one of the following citizenship statuses: U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to a host site area (see locations below)
  • Must pass a national service criminal history check
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid driver’s license and car, and/or dependable transportation  
  • Must have a personal commitment to climate action and environmental stewardship
  • Motivated team leader with exceptional organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and comfortable with public speaking

CCAC AmeriCorps members will be placed at one of our campus host sites as shown below. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to a host site area. CCAC is unable to offer relocation assistance at this time.

CCAC AmeriCorps members will be selected to serve in the 2024-25 programmatic year, which runs from August 26, 2024 through July 31, 2025. The following questions will help us better understand which position you are most qualified for.

AmeriCorps service terms are fixed on specific duration requirements distinct from traditional employment opportunities. CCAC is seeking members to serve in one of the following positions:
  • Corps Leader, Energy Efficiency Full-time AmeriCorps position (1700 hours)
  • Climate Action Leader Full-time AmeriCorps position (1700 service hours)
  • Climate Action Advocate Half-time AmeriCorps position (900 service hours)
  • Climate Action Energizer Minimum-time AmeriCorps position (300 service hours)

CCAC does not offer remote positions. Candidates selected for the program are required to serve in person at the host site of their choice.

CCAC AmeriCorps members will develop and implement a community-driven Climate Action Plan that involves: 
  • Hosting community environmental education events and public awareness campaigns.
  • Conducting home energy assessments, including home energy assistance referrals.
  • Implementing low-tech home energy interventions to help advance public knowledge and increase motivation to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions.
  • Implementing projects in underserved communities that enhance ecosystem health
