Black Dress & Suit Event 2025: Honoring Power Couples
The Black Dress & Suit Event is a formal celebration spotlighting Power Couples. This is a prestigious recognition of love, leadership, and legacy in the Grand Rapids community.   "Power Couples" model the generational strength of family values, love, unity, and mentorship.  They exemplify excellence, impact, and partnership in five influential categories.

Nomination Guidelines & Submission Form
Nomination Deadline: Tuesday, August 27, 2025, by 11:59 PM EST
Honorees Announcement: September 15, 2025

Nomination Categories & Definitions:

  1. Business & Entrepreneurship
    A couple who co-own, operate, or individually lead successful business ventures. They demonstrate innovation, economic empowerment, job creation, and commitment to excellence in their field.

  2. Ministry & Faith Leadership
    A spiritually grounded couple leading within a faith-based context—pastoral, lay leadership, or outreach ministry. They uplift their community through prayer, service, and consistent spiritual guidance.

  3. Community & Philanthropy
    A couple whose volunteerism, civic engagement, or charitable giving significantly enhances lives in Grand Rapids. They may serve on nonprofit boards, organize community events, or lead neighborhood initiatives.

  4. Next Generation Power Couple (Under 40)
    This special category recognizes a dynamic couple, both under the age of 40, who are already making significant waves and demonstrating exceptional leadership and impact in any of the above areas within the Grand Rapids community.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: Each member of Couples nominated should be over 40 years old, with the exception of the Under 40 category.

  • Residency: Couples must reside in the greater Grand Rapids area and have been residents for at least 10 years (or 5 years for under 40).

  • Relationship Status: Nominated couples may be married, engaged, or in a long-term committed partnership. We celebrate all loving and impactful partnerships.

  • Gender: We welcome nominations for couples of all gender identities.

  • Consent: Nominations must include both partners’ explicit consent to be considered.

  • Submission Limit: You may submit one nomination per category only.

  • Submit nominations online or via email (you can customize this with a form link or email address).

  • All nominations must be received by Tuesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST.

  • Final honorees will be contacted privately and announced publicly on September 15, 2025.

Compassion in Action: Domestic Violence Support

In addition to celebrating Power Couples, the Black Dress & Suit Event will shine a light on an often-hidden reality: domestic violence.


This year, we are dedicating a portion of our evening to uplift and support women who are survivors or currently navigating domestic violence.

Proceeds and contributions from the event will help provide:

Emergency resources for women in crisis

Access to counseling and housing referrals

Partnership with local domestic violence shelters and advocates

We believe true community power includes protection, healing, and advocacy. Together, we’ll honor love and also extend love where it’s most needed.
