Secondary Education, Grades 6-12 Certification
Important details:
1. Pathway Program Participants
must have a bachelors degree, have been fingerprinted by the start of the program and obtain an alternative teaching certificate. We will help with directions for obtaining the appropriate certificate.
2. Pathway Program Participants must not be current teachers or individuals already possessing an education degree or certificate. For current Gen Ed teachers interested in special education endorsements, interested individuals should contact Rachael Thornton directly at
certified@gilbertschools.net.
3. Pathway Program Participants will follow a 199 workday calendar and must be available for the entirety of the extended calendar. July 8, 2024 will be the first contract day for this group.
4. Available certificates will be in one of the four areas listed above.
5. Potential candidates may be current non-teaching employees, substitute teachers, parents, or others who have a strong desire to teach in Gilbert Public Schools in one of the above named areas.
6. Program completion results in a GPS Institutional Recommendation for a certificate in the State of Arizona only. By the end of the two year program, candidates will need to successfully pass any certification tests required by the State of Arizona for their certificate area. Candidates must understand that this certification opportunity is valid in Arizona only and is not transferrable to other states.
7. We are asking for a commitment of two years in GPS beyond program completion, but are hoping to build a relationship with each teacher that spans their whole career.
