It Takes Roots May Day Actions
Cities across the country are mobilizing major actions on May Day. Kicking off April 4 and continuing thru the PCM April 28-29th, May Day and beyond, It Takes Roots will be joining "Beyond The Moment" (www.beyondthemoment.org) a cross-sector, cross-issue, cross-movement campaign t to struggle in unity against threats to the environment, our bodies, our homes, and our lives.

We've joined together with the Movement For Black Lives, Mijente, Fight For 15, the National Food Chain Worker's Alliance and more than 50 other org's to launch #BeyondTheMovement to lead up to and beyond May Day to confront the '3 evils' of capitalism, militarism, and racism at the national and local levels.

We're coming together because despite 45 being in the white house, we know that we are the MAJORITY and our communities have the answers and solutions to transform our world.

On May Day actions will stand up to defend our communities against the threats we are facing and call for:

* Expanded Sanctuary in our cities, towns and communities for all people. Sanctuary from raids, detention & deportation for all immigrants and refugees. Sanctuary from mass incarceration, policing & militarism. Sanctuary from displacement. Sanctuary from attacks on trans and gender non-conforming people's rights. Everyone who calls their city's home should feel safe in them. Our communities, towns and cities must be sanctuaries.

* A just transition to a world that puts people, planet, cooperation & democracy before corporations, profit, materialism and the military. We call for divestment in the systems & institutions that exploit our communities and planet and put forward a bold vision calling for investment in a re-generative economy to secure sustainable energy, health, homes, dignity and self-determination for all people's. We are calling for investment in our people and our future generations and the repayment of enormous debts to owed to black communities' and colonized people's.

TO BE ABLE TO COORDINATE & CONNECT OUR GROUPS IN CITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY we need to collect information about what's going down in your cities & towns!

We demand Pittsburgh be declared a sanctuary city now! We demand full rights for ALL immigrants now! Join workers around the world as we protest to demand full rights for all immigrants and women and a living wage for all workers. May Day is the day to unite all the struggles and strikes, to show our collective power in a way that has not been seen in years. That will send a message to both the Republican and Democratic parties, and also to all the communities under attack — immigrants, Muslims, Black people, women, LGBTQ people, Jewish people, the whole working class — that we have power, we will not be intimidated, and we will stand united against racism, sexism and scapegoating. Let’s show that power on May 1st! Join us in a solidarity rally and march at the Pittsburgh City County Building on May Day!
