Connecting with Our Body as the Land of Memories Practice
Asian Refugee United is presenting "Connecting with Our Body as the Land of Memories". This program will be taught by Dohee Lee, ARU’s Art and Healing Director and Founding Director of PURI Arts.

The program is open to all Bhutanese-Nepali community members. The program is a 3 month practice (March. 2021-June 2021). Participants will virtually meet with Dohee Lee every other Sunday from 9am-1pm (PST). Each session, with Dohee, we will focus on different parts of our body and our connection and interpretation to them. This program offers a supplemental support group, Healing Together, for the participants on some alternate Sundays (1.5 hours) where we will discuss our experience, support each other, learn about our own history and our connection to our ancestors and stories. We will also have guest teachers on some weeks like Manose Singh to teach us about Nepali folk music and storytelling. Committed participants will have the opportunity to continue this phase one: Connecting with Our Body as the Land of Memories to phase two: "Mero Yatra, Mero Geet" (My Journey, My Song) which will be performed in 2022 at a theater in San Francisco Bay Area.

Intentions for the program :
- Through reconnecting and remembering, we will share our own story as storytelling
- From this individual and collective connect, we heal, restore and recreate relationship/kinship with nature and humanity
- Envisioning, dreaming for shared future
- Exploring, experimenting shared expression
- Co-create performance ritual process
- Ritual/ presentation of expression of shared future

Required commitment:
- Participants must be able to commit to meet every other Sundays from 9am-1pm (PST) for 5 months (Feb. 2021-June 2021)
- Have access to participate in virtual practice.
