LEAD-K Massachusetts needs your help and involvement!
A bill currently before the Mass State Legislature - House Bill H.3550 and Senate Bill S.305 - seeks to put systems in place to monitor and assess deaf and hard of hearing kids' language development from birth to age 5 to see that they are on the right path to arrive at kindergarten with language mastery - in ASL, English, or both - appropriate to their age and cognitive ability.
If this bill passes, language acquisition data collected will be made public for the first time! Data then will be useful both for individual education planning and policy making. Families will be empowered to make language acquisition a priority in their child's IFSP and IEP process and to make better informed decisions.
It will take a massive effort to pass this important bill. You can help by reaching out to your State Representative and Senator to ask for their support, helping us set up meetings with your State Representative and Senator to educate them and further their support, working with us to get others involved, and so many more!
Thank you for filling out the form below and for considering joining our growing coalition.
