PRIOR TO YOUR AUDITION – Madagascar - A Musical Journey Jr

To participate in auditions, students are required to:

1️⃣ Complete this Audition Registration Form
2️⃣ Attend the audition on Saturday 21 March, 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Vocalise Leumeah
3️⃣ Prepare and complete Parts A, B and C as outlined below


Part A – Vocal Audition

Students will perform a verse and chorus from a song from Madagascar Jr.

Your Audition Pack will specify:
• Which song to prepare
• A reference link to the song
• Which section to sing

Students must perform their excerpt a’capella (without backing music).

The song selection may vary depending on the role being auditioned for.

Part B – Script Scene

Students will perform a short scene from Madagascar Jr.

The Audition Pack will outline:
• The specific scene
• The character role
• Dialogue required

If the scene includes additional characters, a member of the production team will read those lines during the audition.

Part C – Group Dance

Following individual auditions, all students will participate in a short group dance routine.

This routine will be taught on the day and is designed to assess:
• Movement
• Rhythm
• Energy
• Willingness to participate

Please ensure students wear:

• Comfortable clothing suitable for movement

• Closed-in, supportive shoes

The Details

Madagascar – A Musical Adventure Jr is a full-scale theatre production designed to give students the opportunity to grow in confidence, stage presence and performance skill while working as part of a committed cast. This journey runs across Terms 2–4, culminating in our November theatre performances. Students will rehearse, refine and develop their character and ensemble work throughout the year, building towards a professional and high-energy stage experience. The information below outlines performance dates, rehearsal commitments, expectations and what is included as part of the production program.

OUR PURPOSE

The On Broadway Program exists to give students the opportunity to perform, inspire and encourage one another while developing strong skills in singing, acting and movement through a full-scale musical theatre production.

Students cast in Madagascar – A Musical Adventure Jr will become part of our official Broadway Cast, featured in our Annual Broadway Musical Production.

There are three levels of roles within the production: Lead, Featured Ensemble and General Ensemble.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are held on Saturday afternoons from 12:30pm and will run between 2–3 hours, depending on role allocation and rehearsal requirements.

Lead Cast students are required to attend:
• Saturday rehearsals
• An additional weekly rehearsal session on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm

Ensemble students are required to attend:
• Saturday rehearsals as scheduled for their scenes and choreography

Our first full Cast Rehearsal for all students will be held on:

Saturday 18 April (Week 2 of the School Holidays)


WHAT'S EXPECTED

All cast members are expected to:

• Commit fully to the rehearsal process
• Participate with 100% effort
• Practise and come prepared each week
• Learn lines, lyrics and choreography as directed
• Maintain a respectful and positive attitude

If a student is unable to fully commit to the rehearsal requirements of their role, they may be asked to step down from the production.

Vocalise Academy reserves the right to withdraw a student or family from the program if behaviour or actions negatively impact our team, fellow students or families.


PROGRAM INCLUSIONS

The Production Program includes:

• Costume allocation
• Official Cast T-Shirt
• Professional Cast Photo Shoot
• Digital Video Link of the performance
• Venue hire, stage and sound rehearsals
• Weekly production rehearsals and training



Production Fees and Payment Structure
Registration & Acceptance

Casting results will be announced on Friday 27 March.

Families must confirm acceptance of their offered role within 48 hours.

To secure a place in the production, an $89 Resource & Registration Fee is payable upon acceptance in March.

This fee covers:
• Production materials
• Scripts and rehearsal resources
• Administration and licensing preparation


LEAD ROLES (Standalone Production Pathway)

Students cast in Lead roles will focus solely on the musical production during the rehearsal period.

For those enrolled in a Broadway Stars or Drama program, you are expected to step out of the Broadway program and participate in:

• Weekly production rehearsals
• An additional weekly Lead training session (Thursday evenings)
• Full production week commitment

Investment
  • $250 per month

  • April – December (9 equal instalments)

  • First payment processed: 5 April

  • Final instalment: 5 December

FEATURED & GENERAL ENSEMBLE

(Additional to Broadway Program)

If you are currently enrolled in Broadway Program, Featured or General Ensemble will continue their weekly Broadway training while participating in production rehearsals.

They are required to attend:

• Weekly Broadway class
• Scheduled Saturday production rehearsals
• Production week commitment

Investment
  • Broadway Program: $180 per month 

  • Musical Production Add-On: $120 per month

  • Total Monthly Investment: $300

Payments run April – December (9 equal instalments).

First payment processed: 5 April

Final instalment: 5 December

Important Commitment Notice

Acceptance of a role confirms commitment to:

• The full rehearsal schedule
• Production week attendance
• The complete nine-month payment schedule

Production fees are structured to evenly distribute theatre hire, rehearsal direction, costumes and licensing costs across the production period.

Audition Day

Saturday 21st March
1:00pm – 3:00pm

Students should:

• Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement
• Arrive with their voice warmed up
• Be ready to begin promptly at 1:00pm

Auditions will conclude at approximately 3:00pm
