Call For Partners: Expanding Language Access in Public Benefits Through Generative AI

U.S. Digital Response (USDR) is seeking 2 government partners to collaborate on expanding our proven human-centered translation approach beyond unemployment insurance to additional benefit programs. Our work with the New Jersey Department of Labor demonstrates the impact of this approach: they reduced the average unemployment insurance application completion time from over 4 hours to under 30 minutes and enabled staff to translate content 3 times faster than before.

Building on this successful Spanish translation work, we'll jointly develop AI-powered tools to help agencies better serve all residents, including English-speakers, with a focus on multilingual plain language. Content development will take place from April through June 2025.

Applications deadline extended - now close Tuesday, March 18. Potential partners will be notified for next steps. Follow-up conversations will take place the week of March 31.
