The Social Innovation Challenge is a collaborative competition where people come together to develop a social enterprise. Social Enterprises are businesses that exist primarily to create social and/or environmental value. Participants can be anyone with an idea and their idea can be at any stage from 'just an idea' to launched and running.

Here’s what it looks like: The event begins with participants preparing a ‘60 second elevator pitch’ with help from expert coaches. The pitches are delivered to the group and everyone present votes for the top ten ideas to advance. Everyone is encouraged to join a group for the reminder of the day to continue learning and contributing to the ideas as they grow. The top ten groups work through a business plan with the help and guidance of the mentors. The day ends with a final pitch to a panel of judges and over $4000 in grant money is awarded to the winners.
