Bay Area Forward Press Event & Lobby Day in Sacramento (Meet at "Area 33" - 14th and L Streets Sacramento - East Side of Capitol) 

The legislative budget agreement announced last week underscores funding from a 2026 regional ballot measure to support transit operations must fully account for budgetary shortfalls. We know the most effective way to do that is through a gross receipts tax which delivers stable, sustainable funding for Bay Area transit operations. And it’s more popular with voters than a sales tax that continues to see soft support in the region.

 June 24th is when we make the hard ask directly to our state legislators: will they increase costs on working class and low-income families through a sales tax – or – fully fund public transit in the Bay by having major businesses pay their fair share? We will also be able to start sharing what a gross receipts tax will look like to generate $800 million.

Here is the high level agenda for Tuesday, June 24th:

 9:00AM – Plan to arrive in Sacramento around 9am

9:30AM – Meet on the East side of the Capitol near 14th and L Streets

10:00AM – Press Conference begins

10:30AM – Press Conference ends

10:45AM – Lobby visit training

11:15AM – Lunch

11:45AM – Depart for legislator visits

12-3PM – Legislator visits

3:00PM – End of day. Depart Sacramento.
