What kind of event ideas are fair game? We are seeking event ideas that will engage diverse audiences; connect with the arts, technology, education and/or sports; and have a person and/or team running the event with a proven track record. Events that are political or religious in nature are ineligible.
How will I be evaluated? We are weighing applications across four categories: 1) How novel/new is the idea: we're seeking concepts that inject new energy to the events landscape in the Triangle--show us how your event idea does that. 2) Experience executing successful events: given that there is funding and in-kind support on the line, we want to know that you have the ability to execute. Even if your background isn't in events, show us in this application that you can execute. 3) How buzzworthy is the event idea: this is partly related to #1 but also relates to your marketing plan. Show us how you will spread the word and engage a broad audience. 4) Who the event will appeal to: we are seeking events that will bring a broad cross-section of the Durham + Triangle community together. Following an initial review of all applications, we will invite a smaller group of applicants to present their event ideas to a selection committee. This will allow time for you to present the idea and flesh it out further in a more informal Q&A style format.
What's the timeline? Please complete this form in order to be considered. Applications are due by February 15. A smaller group of applicants will be invited to present to the selection committee in late February. A final decision will be made by March 6, 2019. Event ideas may be submitted for either 2019 or 2020 depending on space availability.
Thank you, we're excited to hear what you're dreaming of!
