The Asian American Journalists Association is recruiting judges for the AAJA Scholarships Committee.
A diverse set of journalists will be appointed to review the entries and select the finalists and winners.
What are the AAJA scholarships, internships, fellowships, and grants?AAJA offers up to $20,000 in scholarships and grants to journalism students every year. These scholarships are made possible by supporters such as AAJA members, allies and generous donors. Scholarship judges will:
- Have opportunities to select and connect with outstanding members.
- Grant financial and professional support to AAJA members pursuing their journalism careers.
- Help build the next generation of AAPI journalists.
Requirements:
- Must have an active AAJA membership.
- You don’t need to be a full-time journalist or editor, but you must have a passion for and professional experience in journalism.
- Must attend a judging training.
- Schedule and time commitment: About four hours a month from February through the AAJA convention in August. This includes reviewing approximately 10 entries in each of the scholarships/category(s) you are appointed to judge and amplify scholarship winners.
- Must participate in a review call for each category you are appointed to judge.
- Agree to the Scholarships Judges Agreement and abide by the AAJA Code of Conduct.
