Higher Education Activity Grant Form
Are you looking for financial support for your education-related GIS/LIS activity? The Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium Education Committee can provide limited funding for printing and mailing costs, meeting room rental fees, food services, speaker fees, advertising, and conference support for education-related activities in Minnesota. Activities funded must meet the mission of the MN GIS/LIS Consortium and have a clear and justifiable connection to GIS education. Two separate awards are funded: the Annual Higher Education Grant, awarded annually to support events planned in advance (totalling $1,500), and the Higher Education Quick Grant, awarded on a rolling basis to support activities with short notice (totalling $500). While all are encouraged to apply, those who have not received funding by the Education Committee or the Events and Activity Grant will be given priority. Awards are provided up to a maximum of $500.

Requirements of the Higher Education Annual Grant application:
Requests must be made by September 20th of each year to allow enough time for Education committee review and approval.
Complete the Education Grant Application Form (below).

Requirement of the Higher Education Quick Grant Application:
Request will be accepted on a rolling basis, with approval typically within 1-3 weeks.
Complete the Education Grant Application Form (below).

Upon approval of grant funding, the following conditions apply:
Organizers should use every reasonable attempt to use the MN GIS/LIS logo and name in event promotion.
When the activity is completed, organizers must provide a brief summary of the event suitable for the Consortium’s website and blog.
Organizers must submit a budget summary document to the Consortium detailing the actual use of the Consortium’s awarded funds.

The Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium’s Education Committee policy is to distribute funds only after the activity has been held and after proper event budget summaries have been provided. In rare cases, the Education Committee may approve distribution of funds before the event is held.
