2017 Volunteers for FLL Qualifier Judging
With the tremendous growth of FIRST Lego League in Conroe ISD comes tremendous responsibility. Texas Torque is hosting two FLL Qualifiers this December. The first is on Saturday, December 2, at Knox Junior High School. The second is the following Saturday, December 9, at Caney Creek High School. You can view a copy of the schedule for Saturday at http://www.texastorque.org/fll-schedule. We need nine volunteers at each event to judge each of the following areas: Project, Core Values, and Robot Design. That is twenty-seven judges per event, plus referees for the robot game in the afternoon.

Please complete the form, indicating which area you would like to judge. You will be contacted soon with additional information regarding the tournament. Judges will need to arrive on their respective Saturday by 8:00 AM. Lunch will be provided. Most judging should be complete by noon, with final deliberations and callbacks after lunch. The awards ceremony is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.

Project
Project judging involves listening to a presentation by the FLL team relating to this year's challenge. Using a rubric we provide, you score a portion of teams then confer with other judges to rank the teams. Teams may be called back to help with the deliberation process.

Core Values
For Core Values judging, each team is asked to complete a challenge while being observed by the judging team. Using the provided rubric, you assess how well the team exemplifies the Core Values of FIRST LEGO League.

Robot Design
The third judging category is Robot Design. The team explains about the design of their robot, the programs they wrote, and their approach to accomplishing missions. The judges can also watch teams when they attempt their robot runs. Some knowledge of basic programming is helpful when questioning a team about their programs.
