Stand Down 2024 Volunteer Liability Release Waiver
Thank you for your interest in being a part of The Veterans Village of San Diego's Annual Stand Down, we greatly appreciate your support and dedication to our mission. In order to volunteer at this event each individual volunteer must submit a Volunteer Liability Release Waiver. Groups must also provide a roster.

IN CONSIDERATION of being allowed to participate in the set-up, event, and break down of Veterans Village of San  Diego Stand Down 2024, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged,  

(name)_______________________________ (the “Participant”) agree with Veterans Village of San Diego of 4141 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92110, USA (the “Activity Provider”) to the following:

DETAILS OF ACTIVITY

1)  Scheduled from August 5, 2024, to August 13, 2024, the Participant will be participating in the following activity: Volunteer for Stand Down 2024 (the “Activity”) provided by the Activity Partner. 

CONSIDERATION

2) Being of lawful age and in consideration of being permitted to participate in the activity, the Participant releases and forever discharges the Activity Provider, its owners, directors, officers,  employees, agents, assigns, legal representatives, and successors from all manner of action, causes of action, debts, bonds, contracts, claims, and demands for or by reason of any injury to person or  property, including injury resulting in the death of the Participant, which has been or may be  sustained as a consequence of the Participants participation in the Activity, and not withstanding that  such damage, loss, or injury may have been caused solely or partly by the negligence of the Activity Provider.  

3) The Participant understands that the Participant would not be permitted in the Activity unless the Participant signed this Waiver.  

CONCURRENT RELEASE

4) The Participant acknowledges that this Waiver is given with express intention of effecting the  extinguishment of certain obligations owed to the Participant by the Activity Provider, and the Intention for binding the Participant’s spouse, heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assigns. 

FITNESS TO PARTICIPATE

6) The Participant acknowledges and agrees with the Activity Provider that: (1) The Activity Provider has  given the Participant sufficient time to carefully read this Waiver, (2) the Participant has been given the opportunity and has been encouraged to seek independent legal advice prior to signing this  Waiver, (3) the Participant fully understands the risks and clams that the Participant is waiving to participate in the Activity, (4) the Participant is freely and voluntarily executing this Waiver, and (5) the Participant is forever prevented from suing or otherwise claiming against the Activity Provider for any  property loss or personal injury that the Participant may sustain while participating in or preparing for the Activity.  

GOVERNING LAW

7) This Waiver will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California.

I verify that I have not had any of these symptoms in the past 10 days: cough, shortness of breath,  high fever, muscle pain, body ache, nausea, loss of taste/smell.

If I develop any of the above symptoms or am not feeling well during the event, I will contact a Lead of  VVSD, and refrain from attending any Stand Down related volunteer activities.

I will not bring any valuables such as, but not limited to cameras, jewelry, cash, electronics, etc. to the  event. I agree that I will be responsible for any theft, loss, damages, or destruction of said property and will not  make any claim against VVSD, the County of San Diego, the City of San Diego and other support and service  providers or their respective insurance carriers.

I give permission to the Veterans Village of San Diego to photograph/video me while participating in any VVSD programs or in VVSD sponsored events. I understand that these pictures /videos could be used for non-commercial use to promote the programs at VVSD.
