Please note that the membership year starts 1 October. If you are joining after 30 May and you don't have bees yet and don't intend to keep bees until the following year you can elect to postpone your Full Membership until 1 October. As long as you pay the Full Membership fee in advance you can be a Social member of SBKA from 1 June to 30 September free of charge, with Full Membership coming into effect 1 October.
*Full membership @ £38.00 gives you all the benefits of BBKA membership, including the monthly magazine and insurance. The insurance is only applicable if you keep bees or if you intend to start keeping bees this year.
*Partner members @ £31.50 as above but only one copy of BBKA News is sent to the relevant address – a “partner” in this context is anyone living at the same address as a Full member – partner, spouse, parent, offspring, sibling or friend
*Country member - If you do not keep bees (and therefore don’t need the insurance) but still want to receive the BBKA magazine, then you could be a Country Member @ £28.50
*Social member - SBKA only is £19 and applicable to those who are already members of another beekeeping association or only wish to join SBKA without also being a member elsewehere
*Junior membership is £9.50. We do not normally accept Junior Members without a parent or guardian also being a member.
*Friend of Sheffield Beekeepers' Association is £10. This is for people who would like to show their support to beekeeping in Sheffield but do not wish to be members with voting rights.
If you are unsure of which type of membership you want please write to
sec@sheffieldbeekeepers.org.uk with any queries
If you wish to become a member this year then please complete this form and select the "join immediately" option under membership start date. Your membership will cease 30 September and you will have to renew 1 October.
A note about our membership fees:
Our fee level is agreed at the AGM held in the previous year, so the fees shown here were set in November 2017. The greater part of the membership fee goes to BBKA.
Sheffield BKA offers free membership for juniors but there is still the BBKA capitation fee which makes the cost of junior membership £9.50.
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations): Please note that following the AGM held in November 2020 membership of SBKA is conditional on members agreeing for their contact details to be passed on to the National Bee Unit and agreeing to receive the Association's e-News.
