Climate and Polar research: the role of travel
A drastic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (net zero by 2050) is needed in order to avoid irreversible and dangerous changes to our climate and its adverse effects on our entire planet. As polar (and alpine) researchers we work in one of the world's most fragile ecosystems, and many of us have borne witness to drastic change in just the past few years. Yet, when it comes to reducing emissions, we, as researchers, often find ourselves in the middle: While our scientific contributions can lead to a better understanding of climate change and inform political action, the act of our research has environmental impacts of its own.

This survey has been developed by the APECS Project Group “CO2 Reduction in Arctic Science”. We are curious about your experiences and opinions regarding sustainable research practices, particularly, concerning travel. Responses will be used to inform the creation of a pocket guide on the same topic.

This survey should take no more than 15 minutes.

Please note that by completing this survey, you agree that data about your participation may be used anonymously for research purposes.

Deadline for completing the survey: 31 of August 2021

In case you have any questions, please contact us via the APECS office at info@apecs.is
