We would like to invite you to a parents’ information
evening on Tuesday 10th September 2024 at 6:00 pm.
Your child is now starting their GCSE courses in
school and we are aware that Bryngwyn parents are keen to support and help
their children; we have therefore arranged this to provide you with information
regarding GCSEs and give you an overview of the two years ahead. Feedback from
previous evenings suggest parents have found this information useful in helping
manage the demands of the year ahead.
Mrs Cari Hartnell, Head of Pupil Progress, will start
with a presentation outlining the key dates and assessments in the year ahead
and the support that the school provides. The head of departments for English,
maths and science will outline the requirements of the GCSEs and suggest ways
in which you may be able to support your child. Members of senior staff and
support staff will also be available for consultation.
The assessment overview
sheets which give an outline of key dates throughout the year will be available
on the website during the meeting and will also be distributed to the pupils
next week. The pupils will sit GCSE units in year 10 for some subjects as
outlined. Also, it is currently planned that some of our year 10 pupils will aim
to complete the GCSE Numeracy in summer 2025 or November 2025
